Tote Bag (AOP) (Sarah Rector)
$13.60 – $22.00
Sarah Rector (1902–1967) was an American oil magnate known as the “Richest Colored Girl in the World.” Born near the all-black town of Taft, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Rose McQueen and Joseph Rector, both descendants of Creek Indians. Sarah’s family was listed as freedmen on the Dawes Rolls, which entitled them to land allotments. She received 159.14 acres of land in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Although initially considered inferior soil, an oil strike on her property made her wealthy. Sarah Rector became a millionaire, defying racial and economic barriers
