The Kingdom of Kush emerged around 2500 BCE and was heavily influenced by Egyptian culture. It became a dominant power after Egypt’s decline around 1069 BCE, with its capital at Napata. Later, the capital moved to Meroë, where Kush developed its own distinct writing system (Meroitic script) and ironworking industry.
