- Formation and Early History: The Kingdom of Kush emerged around 1070 BCE after gaining independence from Egypt. It was centered around the city of Napata and later moved its capital to Meroe.
- Conquest of Egypt: In the 8th century BCE, the Kushite king Kashta and his successors, including Piye and Shabaka, conquered Egypt and established the 25th Dynasty, ruling as pharaohs of Egypt from 747 to 656 BCE.
- Cultural Influence: The Kushites adopted many aspects of Egyptian culture, including religion, art, and architecture. They built pyramids, worshiped Egyptian gods, and mummified their dead.
- Decline and Fall: The Kingdom of Kush began to decline after the Assyrian invasion of Egypt in 666 BCE. The capital was moved to Meroe around 590 BCE. The kingdom continued to exist until it was eventually conquered by the Aksumite Empire around 330 CE.
